Being the first member of my family to attend and complete college is rewarding because it broke a chain and provided greater financial opportunities. Although faced with socioeconomic challenges, I was able to turn a dream into a reality.

Money: My wife and I began investing 15% of our salary in a 401(k) the first day we entered the workforce. My wife and I were not able to dine out as much as our friends and neighbors. My family is also a tithing family which means we contribute to our Church. As a result, our family chose to live below our means. Comfort: ​My wife and I stepped out of our comfort zone when we moved away from our home state of Massachusetts and relocated to Ohio. The reward was it allowed us to raise our children in a top rated school system and become homeowners (great real estate investment). Personal: It was important for me to understand how to build wealth. Attending seminars, enrolling in the right classes and surrounding myself with like minded people proved to be beneficial. Social Life: Our family elected to minimize the amount of vacations we took during times like school breaks and holidays. Time: Much is given, too much is required. Having the opportunity to volunteer our time and money is rewarding and also set an example for our children.

The only person that can keep you from achieving success is you! People can teach you or mentor you, but ultimately you are accountable for taking action.
